Okuma Alarm P-0788 – MCS Rotary Encoder 3 Error

Okuma Alarm P-0788 indicates that invalid or illegal data was detected from the MCS rotary encoder 3. The encoder provides position and speed feedback to the CNC control, and if the control receives corrupted or inconsistent signals it stops the machine and generates this alarm. The problem may be caused by a faulty encoder, damaged cables, electrical noise, or issues in the servo drive system. Restarting the machine may clear the alarm, but if it appears again the encoder or related electronics should be inspected.
