Common Errors on Okuma CNC Machines
Our workshop specializes in the diagnosis and repair of typical Okuma CNC faults – in both electronic and mechanical assemblies.
Many issues can already be identified clearly by the displayed alarm or error message.
Below are some of the most common alarm codes and their causes:
Typical Error Messages and Their Causes
🔹 Alarm 923-33 – Communication Error Between MIV Unit and Control
Cause: Interruption in signal transmission, faulty connector, or defective interface board.
Solution: Check the bus cable, replace the interface board, or repair the MIV unit.
🔹 Alarm F-301 – Brake Transistor Error (Yaskawa/Okuma Drive)
Cause: Short circuit in the brake transistor, defective servo drive, or damaged power stage.
Solution: Replace the driver module and check the cooling system and power supply.
🔹 Spindle Error / Overload
Cause: Overheating of the spindle motor, worn bearings, or electrical imbalance.
Solution: Spindle overhaul, bearing replacement, and spindle control calibration.
🔹 Power Supply Fault
Cause: Defective capacitors, voltage regulators, or power supply units.
Solution: Repair or replacement of the power supply (e.g. E4809-032-xxx, PSU modules).
🔹 Encoder / Feedback Error
Cause: Signal loss or contaminated feedback sensors.
Solution: Cleaning, realignment, or replacement of the encoder.
🔹 Alarm 134 – Servo Ready Error
Cause: The servo drive does not report “ready” status – often caused by a defective relay or power supply.
Solution: Check supply voltage and repair the drive module.
🔹 Alarm 432-2 – Overcurrent on X/Y/Z Axis
Cause: Short circuit in axis motors or faulty amplifier boards.
Solution: Test the motors and repair the amplifier units (SVC drive).
🔹 Alarm 470 – Battery Voltage Low / Memory Error
Cause: Discharged memory battery or defective memory chip.
Solution: Replace the battery and, if necessary, restore the machine parameters.
All errors are analyzed, documented, and repaired in our workshop using advanced measuring systems and original-quality replacement components.
We perform functional and load testing under real operating conditions to ensure long-term reliability.
