Okuma Alarm A-1490 – Synchronous Mode Spindle Speed Command

Okuma Alarm A-1490 occurs when the spindle speed defined in the machining program does not match the spindle speed specified in the synchronous cam execution data.

This alarm appears when the CNC control enters synchronous mode and detects that the commanded spindle speed differs from the spindle speed required for the cam operation. Because both speeds must match for synchronized operation, the control stops the process and generates Alarm A-1490.

What Does Okuma Alarm A-1490 Mean?

In synchronous machining modes, the spindle rotation must remain precisely coordinated with the cam axis or other synchronized machine functions.

Alarm A-1490 indicates that the spindle speed command in the machining program does not correspond with the speed defined in the cam execute data. When these values differ, synchronization cannot be maintained, and the CNC control interrupts the operation.

Possible Causes

The following conditions may cause Okuma Alarm A-1490:

  • Incorrect spindle speed programmed in the machining program

  • Mismatch between cam execute data and spindle command

  • Incorrect synchronous machining parameters

  • Programming error in the NC program

  • Incorrect setup of synchronous mode operation

How to Troubleshoot Alarm A-1490

To resolve the issue, check the following:

  1. Verify the spindle speed programmed in the NC program.

  2. Compare the programmed spindle speed with the cam execute data.

  3. Ensure that synchronous mode parameters are configured correctly.

  4. Check that the program commands match the machine configuration.

  5. Restart the CNC control if the alarm appeared during program loading.

When Service Is Required

If Okuma Alarm A-1490 appears repeatedly even after correcting the program, the issue may be related to the machine control configuration or synchronization parameters.

In such cases, further diagnostics of the CNC control system may be required.
